Shares:

Lye is an indoor product for white pigmentation of untreated or sanded wooden surfaces of ash, beech and softwood (pine and spruce).

Limits the wood's natural yellowing process.

The product is not recommended for oak, as the wood type's content of tannic acid can cause discolouration. Wooden surfaces treated with Lye must always be protected with either soap, oil and/or varnish.

For residential and commercial use.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Untreated/sanded floors:

  • The surface must be completely clean, dry and free of dust, wax, grease, polish and soap residue. Impurities are removed by sanding in the direction of the wood grain with sandpaper grain 100-120. Sanding dust is removed by vacuuming.
  • To ensure a uniform result, it is recommended to empty the product into a plastic bucket. Stir periodically.
  • Apply Lud in an even and uniform layer in the lengthwise direction of the wood.
  • The surface must be saturated, but make sure that the floor absorbs the lye.
  • Non-absorbed lye affects the wood and can cause moisture damage, which i.a. can appear in the form of small cracks in the surface.
  • Let the top coat dry.
  • Then sand the surface lightly with a disc sander fitted with a black floor disc or sanding net in grit 180-220 and remove sanding dust by vacuuming.
  • Wipe the floor with a cloth wrung out in clean water.
  • When the floor is dry, it must be treated with Junckers NaturSæbe clear, white or extra white. Alternatively, the surface can be varnished with one of Junckers' water-based varnishes or oiled with Junckers Floor Oil clear, Nordic or white.

Final treatment with Junckers Natural Soap:

  • 1 litre of Junckers Natural Soap is mixed with 10 liters of warm water.
  • To saturate the wood, the floor is washed three times over the course of two days.
  • Always use a tightly wrung out cloth or mop. A wooden floor cannot withstand soaking and if water spills occur, the floor must be wiped off immediately to avoid moisture damage.
