Rapid is designed for professional floor finishers who need to get two coats done in a single day. With a drying time of around 4–6 hours between coats rather than overnight, it’s possible to finish the whole job in one visit — which is why most flooring tradespeople reach for this one.
If you’re tackling the job yourself, it’s worth looking at Osmo Polyx Original first. The longer drying time overnight between coats isn’t a drawback — it gives you time to apply the oil carefully and evenly without feeling under pressure. Osmo oils reward patience, and Original gives you more of it.
Whichever version you use, the floor needs around two weeks to fully harden. It’ll be fine for walking on within 24 hours, but hold off on rugs and heavy furniture until that two weeks is up. A floor that feels dry to the touch isn’t the same as one that’s fully cured — and putting a rug down too early is one of the most common reasons people end up with dark patches.
